Project Overview

  • To establish baseline data on soil parameters and geophysical characteristics of landslide areas in Atok municipality
  • To identify and test the adaptability and performance of suitable indigenous and economically valued plant species not only for revegetation purposes but also for income generation
  • To establish nurseries for the selected plants species for revegetation to provide a sustainable source of planting materials

Project Details

  • Nursery Establishment – to propagate species for revegetation of landslides
  • Soil Analyses - to test some properties of soil that are related to the growth and stabilization of plants
  • Mass revegetation of landslides with community participation
  • Development of Information Education Campaign (IEC) materials

Project Overview

  • to contribute to the enhancement of the capability of LGUs in incorporating scientific information in DRRM decision-making
  • to develop a science-based and community-based early warning protocol for heavy rainfall and landslide

Main Activities

  • Conduct of science education, training workshops and focus group discussions 
  • Acquisition, installation of automated weather stations (AWS), training of user-experts, and weather monitoring 
  • Field observation of landslides and  integration into GIS
  • Acquisition of satellite image and   inventory of landslides
  • Data analysis and formulation of early warning protocol
